“…One study investigated systemic plus intratympanic steroid administration and found a significantly higher recovery rate (hearing improvement, 910 dB) compared with systemic steroids plus HBO therapy (24). However, there was no significant difference between ITS and HBO in recovery rate in the current study when we defined it as a 15-or 10-dB hearing gain (data not shown).…”

“…In the HBOT + SS and SS groups, the hearing recovery rate was lower for patients treated > 7 days after the onset of symptoms than for those treated within 7 days, although the difference was not significant. However, the difference in the IT + SS group was significant, consistent with previous data [Alimoğlu et al, 2011;Suzuki et al, 2012]. Hosokawa et al [2017a, b] showed that many patients who failed to regain their hearing received initial treatment ≥7 days after symptom onset.…”

“…ment of sensorineural hearing loss. However, approximately 30-50% of patients have a poor response to oral or intravenous steroid therapy [Li et al, 2011;Suzuki et al, 2012], and only 61% achieve full recovery. Therefore, the standard treatment for this condition remains controversial [Imsuwansri et al, 2012].…”
