“…In addition, cognitive rehabilitation training has been demonstrated to improve aspects of cognition in a range of disorders, including some commonly comorbid with substance use disorders, such as major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia (Bowie, Gupta, & Holshausen, 2013a; Elliott & Parente, 2014; Revell, Neill, Harte, Khan, & Drake, 2015; Wykes, Huddy, Cellard, McGurk, & Czobor, 2011). In a meta-analysis of cognitive enhancement treatments for schizophrenia that included 2,104 participants, durable effects on global cognition and functioning were reported (Wykes et al, 2011).…”

“…Treatment should be directed toward the specific pathology. Targeted cognitive rehabilitation may be beneficial across the spectrum of memory dysfunction, 29 especially in mild impairment. 30 Pharmacologically, cholinesterase inhibitors are approved for use in the treatment of Alzheimer disease and Parkinson disease dementias, and memantine is approved for the later stages of Alzheimer disease.…”

“…Recently, treatments mediated by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have been very well received, finding significant differences between traditional cognitive or pencil and paper-training programs and those that incorporate the use of technological tools, such as mobile applications (APP), interactive games and multimedia devices [32]. For example, Shin and Kim [33], during their investigation with patients with cranioencephalic trauma, showed significant differences for ICT-mediated cognitive training, while participants demonstrated improvements in attention and memory processes, compared to those who received a traditional program.…”
