Efficacy of Percussive massage Versus Calf Stretching on Pain, Range of Motion, Muscle Strength and Functional Outcomes in Patients with Plantar Fasciitis – A Randomized Control Trial.

Abstract: Background: In the outpatient setting, plantar fasciitis has been the most frequent cause of heel pain. A sharp insidious pain under the heel and along the medial border of the plantar fascia up to its insertion at the calcaneus are signs of plantar fasciitis. The most common cause of biomechanical changes in PF is calf muscle tightness. Percussive Therapy is a relatively new technique that uses a mechanical system, such as the Theragun, to provide percussive massage.(17) Therefore, this Research will explore … Show more

“…When engaging in weight-bearing activities, dynamic balance control can be impacted by pain. 21 Numerous studies demonstrate the impact on the reduction of pain, improved joint mobility and foot function, etc. According to Ranbhor et al, foam rolling and calf and plantar fascia stretching both aided with pain relief and joint motion.…”

“…Visual analogue scale decreased from 8 to 4/10. There was significant improvement in the strength of the muscles [ 16 ] and the patient experienced alleviation from symptoms and achieved functional mobility that she had previously been unable to tolerate owing to pain. As a result, physical therapy rehabilitation has been proved to be highly beneficial.…”

“…Theoretically it could be an alternative for recovery in lifeguards after a water rescue, with a small economic investment and the possibility of applying it during vigilance. However, to date there have been few studies and little scientific evidence about PMT, and its effects on recovery still remain unclear [20,21]. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the effects of PMT on lifeguards' recovery after a water rescue, and to compare their effects with a passive recovery protocol.…”
