Efficacy of Telecardiology in improving the results of Cardiac Rehabilitation after acute myocardial infarction

Abstract: Materials and Methods:We studied three groups of patients after AMI: Group A (control group): 15 patients, who followed a standard in-hospital CRP of 3 weekly sessions of 2 months duration; Group B (study group): 15 patients, who were enrolled in a home-based CRP of similar duration and were monitored by TC with the aid of an ecg-device (Sorin Life Watch CG 6106); Group C (second control group): 15 patients, who followed a home-based CRP without ecgmonitoring by TC. All patients performed a symptom-limited exe… Show more

“…As in our study, the authors observed a significant increase in the distance in 6-MWT [11]. Giallauria et al [16] assessed the effects of CR at 3 sessions weekly for 2 months in patients after myocardial infarction. The patients were subdivided into three groups: an out-patient CR, a home-based telemonitored CR, and a home--based CR without ECG-monitoring.…”

“…Introducing home-based cardiac telerehabilitation (HTCR) may eliminate most of the factors that result in the currently low number of patients undergoing outpatient-based rehabilitation programs and thus increase the percentage of those who will undergo CR [9]. To date, only a few studies including small numbers of patients have demonstrated favorable effects of telemonitored CR but the authors did not evaluate in detail patients' acceptance of HTCR [10][11][12][13][14][15][16].…”

“…Giallauria et al [14] assessed the effects of exercise training in 45 patients, mainly men, after MI subdivided into 3 groups. Physical capacity improvement was comparable in patients trained in an out-patient center and at home with TeleECG monitoring, however, significantly greater than in those trained at home without telemonitoring.…”
