Efficacy of Toki-shigyakuka-gosyuyu-syokyo-to (Danggui-Sini-Jia-Wuzhuyu-Shengjiang-Tang) on Peripheral Circulation in Autonomic Disorders

Abstract: To investigate the improvement in peripheral circulation in autonomic disorders, we monitored skin temperature in the tails of rats by thermography before and after the oral administration of boiled water extract of Toki-shigyakuka-gosyuyu-syokyo-to (TSGS-to). Oral administration of this extract elevated the temperature, calculated as the calories of radiant heat in the rat tail 5-10 min after uptake. The temperature elevation remained stable for more than 20 min. Calories were significantly reduced 60 min aft… Show more

“…To avoid the influence of the haircoat, the tail temperature, which is used as an indicator of the peripheral circulation, was measured (14). The tail surface temperature was measured before and after 12 weeks of exposure to SMF in the OVX-M group, and at the respective time points in the OVX-D and normal groups.…”

“…One of the famous herbal prescriptions, Danggui-Sayuk-Ga-Osuyu-Saenggang-Tang (DSGOST; Danggui-Sini-Jia-Wuzhuyu-Shengjian-Tang in Chinese, Tokishigyakukagoshuyushokyoto in Japanese) has historically long been used for treating RP, since it has been thought to be useful for warming the interior on the basis of TCM theories [25–28, 30]. DSGOST is a mixed herbal medicine which consists of Angelica root, Cinnamon bark, Peony root, Akebia stem, Asarum root, Glycyrrhiza, Jujube, Evodia fruit, and Ginger [25–27, 30]. When rats were orally received with DSGOST, peripheral circulation in rat tails was improved [30].…”

“…Similar to Achyranthis Radix , Cinnamoni Cortex and Processi Aconiti Radix invigorate blood circulation. [2021] However, the prophylactic antiallodynic activity of HJG was weaker than that of GJG. Thus, although Cinnamoni Cortex and Processi Aconiti Radix may have some prophylactic antiallodynic activity, Plantaginis Semen and Achyranthis Radix may play important roles in the antiallodynic action of GJG.…”
