Efficiency analysis of dual motor powertrain with planetary gear set

Abstract: This paper focuses on electric vehicles with dual motors combined with a planetary gear train. The combination of sun and ring motor allows for achieving higher efficiencies and satisfying power demands as compared to single motor powertrains. Primarily dual motor drive with planetary gear train is proposed and simulated with different drive cycles.
