Efficiency and Performance Improvement Via Using Optical Reflectors of On-Grid CIGS PV Solar System

Abstract: CIGS PV solar module is a thin film technology (second generation) that is fabricated from Copper-Indium Gallium Selenide. CIGS an abbreviation of C Copper-I Indium G Gallium S Selenide. The system, with which reflectors are incorporated, is 5kWp On-Grid CIGS PV Solar system is located at Al Mansour company, Iraq-Baghdad (latitude 33.3°N, longitude 44.4°E and 41m above the sea level). This study improves performance ratio, array efficiency, electrical power and current. All these improvements are done via incr… Show more

“…Efficiency is classified into an array, system, and inverter efficiencies. The array efficiency (ɳ 𝑃𝑉 ) is based on the DC power output, while the system efficiency (ɳ 𝑆𝑌𝑆 ) is based on the AC energy output (de Lima et al,17;Abed et al,2020). The array efficiency is the ratio of the DC energy output to the in-plane solar irradiation multiplied by the area of PV modules (PV array) (Kumar et al, 2017;Attari and Asselman, 2016).…”

“…The array yield (YA) is the DC energy output for a specific period of time divided by the nominal power of the PV solar system. The YA represents the number of hours per day that the solar PV system is operating at its nominal power (Abed et al, 2020). The array yield is given in equation 9:…”

“…Final yield (Y F ) is the AC energy that a PV solar system produces for a determined period of time over its 1223 (2023) 012025 IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1755-1315/1223/1/012025 4 nominal power rating. It shows the number of hours the PV solar system works at its maximum capacity (nominal power) each day [22,23]. It is determined by: Y (F) =E AC /P (PV,rated) (kWh/kW P )…”
