Efficiency of Nitrogen Use in Sunflower

Abstract: The large variation in the response of sunflower to nitrogen fertilization indicates the need for studies to better adjust the optimum levels of this nutrient for production conditions. Our objectives were to analyze the agronomic yield of sunflower cultivars as a function of nitrogen fertilization; indicate the cultivar with high nitrogen use efficiency; and measure the adequate N dose for sunflower through nutritional efficiency. The completely randomized block design with split plots was used to conduct the… Show more

“…As a result, farmers have initiated to utilize of organic fertilizers to improve soil chemical and physical structure. Crop productivity is increased by carefully adjusting agricultural methods such as fertilization, tillage, and removal of weeds [14][15][16][17]. There are several kinds of organic fertilizers, such as biofertilizers which are considered the most recent eco-friendly technique for promoting sustainable agriculture.…”

“…Its oil has a high content of not synthesized by humans' fatty acids (linoleic and oleic acids) and it is used widely in the food industry instead of olive oil [3,4]. Furthermore, sunflower oil is used for the biodiesel production, reducing the negative impacts of non-renewable energy sources that have harmful effects in environment and in society [5].…”
