EFFICIENCY OF SOME BIONEMATICIDES AGAINST ROOT-KNOT NEMATODE Meloidogyne incognita ON THREE TOMATO CULTIVARS UNDER GREENHOUSE CONDITIONS

Abstract: This study was carried out to determine the nematicidal efficiency of seven bionematicides (Nema end, Nema cont, Nema clean, Nema K, Bio-zeid, Bio-arc and Nemex) compared with one nematicide (Nemacur 10%) on three cultivars of tomato against the root-knot nematode (RKN) Meloidogyne incognita under greenhouse conditions. The screened tomato cultivars (endless summer, supermarmand and jueblle) were significantly different in their response to nematode infection. Detectable tolerance to nematode infection was rec… Show more

“…In order to investigate the change in the expression level of the Hsp70 gene, total RNA and protein contents were extracted from muscle tissues, gills, and liver of Nile tilapia by using Trizol reagent (Invitrogen, USA). The concentration of total RNA was quantified on a Nanodrop spectrophotometer (ThermoFisher Scientific Inc., Wilmington, DE, USA), and quality was determined by running 1% agarose gel ( 40 ). Total extracted RNA was treated with RNase-free DNaseI to remove DNA.…”

“…Although some varieties can be described as resistant; however, they are not immune to nematode infestation, where the plant can be attacked by adult nematodes but their reproduction is highly reduced ( Lambert and Bekal, 2002 ). Despite the immense benefits of resistant cultivars, the limitation is represented in the availability to commercial farmers, besides, breeding the resistant genes into commercially acceptable cultivars ( Arora and Sandhu, 2017 , El-Deeb et al, 2018 , Hassanin et al, 2020 ). There is more work to get nematode-resistant bacterial plasma ( Starr et al, 2007 ).…”

“…The ability of a susceptible plant to develop resistance to further infection after an initial infection by a microbial pathogen is called induced resistance ( Hammerschmidt, 2014 ). Induced resistance can be described as two types: systemic acquired resistance (SAR) or induced systemic resistance (ISR) ( Walters and Heil, 2007 , Hammerschmidt, 2014 , El-Deeb et al, 2018 , , xxxx ). The SAR restricts the pathogen growth and reducing symptoms after pathogen attack compared to control ( Walters et al, 2014 ).…”

“…Bio-zeid (Trichoderma album) inhibits nematode reproduction and leads to the death of juvenile plant parasitic nematode which infected tomato plants, considered one of the most efficient bio-pesticides (El-Deeb et al, 2018). Bio-zeid application led to a decrease in the number of root-knot nematodes that infected tomato plants, and the rate of root-knot formation was significantly reduced and improved the vegetative and fruiting qualities of tomatoes (Samak and Abo-Korah, 2021).…”
