Abstract:Emulation has been successfully applied across a wide variety of scientific disciplines for efficiently analysing computationally intensive models. We develop the known boundary emulation strategies currently implemented in the literature, which utilise the fact that, for many simulators, there exist hyperplanes in the input parameter space on which the simulator can be solved far more efficiently, whether this be analytically or just significantly faster using a more efficient and simpler numerical solver. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
