Abstract: Background Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterised with signature pathological lesions of extracellular senile plaques and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles comprising amyloid beta (Aβ) protein and hyperphosphorylated tau protein, respectively.
