EGOT lncRNA in head and neck squamous cell carcinomas

Abstract: Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCCs) are one of the most challenging cancers to cure. In this study, we focused on eosinophil granule ontogeny transcript (EGOT), a transcriptional regulator of granule protein expression during eosinophil development that has been previously associated with cancers. Expression levels of EGOT and other selected genes as well as clinical pathology data from HNSCC samples, were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and analysed using GraphPad Prism 5. Our results… Show more

“…However, the function of different lincRNAs is not fully understood. In the case of lncRNAs, our results indicated the role of lncRNA EGOT, PRINS, and CDKN2B-AS1 (ANRIL) [164,165]. Moreover, in our published work, we observed changes in lincRNAs including up-regulation of TTTY14, and TTTY15, and down-regulation of MEG3 and H19 in HPV(+) patients in comparison to HPV(−).…”

“…However, there is still a lack of comprehensive knowledge of how HPV infection regulates lncRNA expression or the general effect of these phenomena in tumor progression. A few lncRNAs that are closely related to HPV infection and the oncogenesis of HNSCC have been described and could have potential as biomarkers [ 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 ].…”

“…Another lncRNA, EGOT, is connected with HPV infection. Both of these lncRNAs could serve as prognostic biomarkers in HNSCC [ 32 , 33 ]. However, the exact function of the most lncRNAs is still unknown and needs to be further investigated.…”
