“…The crystal structure of the ternary phase Eu 2-x Mg 2-y Ge 3 (x = 0.1; y = 0.5) contains two different types of germanium anions: isolated Ge 4and infinite chains parallel to the c-axis with cis-transconformations. Both types of anions are ecliptically stacked along the a-axis ( Figure 1) with inter-anion distances equal to 4.62 Å. Isotypic chains with cis-trans conformations have been already found in LiBaGe 2 , [14] LiSrGe 2 , [14] Li 2 Sr 4 Ge 6 [16] as well as in the silicides Li x Mg 2-x Sr 2 Si 3 [17] , and the low-temperature modification of LaSi. [18] The coordination spheres of both germanium anions are shown in Figure 2.…”

“…To date, the following solid lanthanum compounds are known in the ternary system La± Si±Cl: lanthanum chloride LaCl 3 , [19] the silicides La 5 Si 3 , La 3 Si 2 , La 5 Si 4 , LaSi, [20] and a low-temperature modification of LaSi, [21] as well as a-and b-LaSi 2 . This means that the recombination process is governed by two distinct steps, which are characterized by the rate constants k 1 and k 2 .…”
