Abstract

This study is an experimental study involving 144 high school students in Mojokerto. This study is to investigate the effectiveness STAD-type cooperative learning on geometry problem solving, student achievement, and motivation. The random sampling cluster is used to select two high schools in Mojokerto, namely SMA Negeri 1 Dawarblandong and SMA Negeri 2 Mojokerto. Anava analysis is used to analyze this data. Findings this study show that students who are taught geometry using STAD-type cooperative learning are better than other students who use nonSTAD-type cooperative learning(sign = .029). There are differences in geometry learning achievements between students who use STAD-type cooperative learning and non STAD-type cooperative learning(sign = .000). Based on the analysis of these data shows that STAD type cooperative learning is effective for teaching geometry learning to high school students.In addition, there are motivational differences between students studying geometry using STAD-type cooperative learning and non STAD-type cooperative learning. So, researchers suggested that mathematics teachers be encouraged to apply the cooperative learning of STAD type as one of the learning alternatives teaches geometry to high school students. The expectation is that students can improve their performance when studying geometry.
