Due to the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, a home seclusion program and a whole series of measures were initiated to protect the population from contagion, and the world population faced two main critical situations: fear of contagion, and with it to the death, and on the other the crisis originated by the confinement. As a result of this event that affects the whole world, an investigation was developed whose objectives were focused on evaluating the emotional states and the coping resources used to cushion the effects of the pandemic. To this end, we worked with a sample of 1,216 Argentine adults, establishing a comparison during the first 15 days, and then 180 days after confinement. Additionally, it is proposed to identify differences between men and women in emotional states and resources used, as well as these objectives are also analyzed and specified in the population at risk by age - over 60 years old. The results of this research allow us to reflect on the psychological effects of quarantine and confinement with respect to emotional states and the effectiveness of the resources used; Consequently, data is offered that can guide mental health policies in order to implement primary and post-pandemic prevention programs.
