“…In this context, and in a health system in which community care is universal and free for all citizens, the predisposing factors, and the worsening of the state of health of the multimorbid elderly led to a higher expectation of demand for health services. However, as other studies in Spain and other countries have shown (Lange et al, 2020; Torres‐Cantero et al, 2022), only the confinement measures and the restrictions to the access to the health system can justify the reduction in the number of face‐to‐face meetings with health services and care providers, mainly in the number of meetings with the nurses, and hospital admittances, together with reduced visits to emergency services and the mean length of hospital stays.
