Electric dipole moment constraints on CP-violating light-quark Yukawas

Abstract: Nonstandard CP violation in the Higgs sector can play an essential role in electroweak baryogenesis. We calculate the full two-loop matching conditions of the standard model, with Higgs Yukawa couplings to light quarks modi ed to include arbitrary CP-violating phases, onto an e ective Lagrangian comprising CP-odd electric and chromoelectric light-quark (up, down, and strange) dipole operators. We nd large isospin-breaking contributions of the electroweak diagrams. Using these results, we obtain signi cant cons… Show more

“…The estimated sensitivities for the CP-violating phases, α τ of the τ Yukawa coupling andc zz extracted from CP-sensitive variables are collected in Table 14. Before concluding this section, we recall that CP-violating Yukawa couplings are well constrained from bounds on the electric dipole moments (EDMs) [76][77][78][79][80][81] under the assumptions of i) no cancellation with other contributions to EDMs, ii) SM values for the CP-even part of the Yukawa couplings.…”

“…In models such as the extended Higgs models [26][27][28], supersymmetric models with large tan β [4,29,30], R-parity violation [31][32][33][34] or with heavy sfermions (split-supersymetry) [35], the two-loop level Barr-Zee type diagram [see Fig. 1 (b)] yields the leading contribution to the nuclear EDM.…”
