Electrical Behaviour and Spherulites Morphology of HDPE/PP Polyblends with HDPE as Base Material

Abstract: Polymer composites of virgin high density poly ethylene (HDPE) and virgin polypropylene (PP) are prepared. PP of weight% of 20, 30 and 50 are reinforced to HDPE in the form of pellets. They are converted into raw polymer sheets using a two roll milling machine. The prepared raw sheets have undergone compression moulding to fabricate polymer sheets to study electrical properties like dielectric strength, surface resistivity and volume resistivity at atmospheric temperature and pressure. Result shows dielectric … Show more

“…The nanocomposites were further examined by polarizing light microscopy (PLM) and the spherulite images captured during cooling are presented below (Figure 4, 125 • C, magnification ×40). Regarding neat HDPE, well-organized spherulites are generally observed [41][42][43][44]. In the case of nanocomposites, the ones with the lowest CaPim contents exhibit few and small crystallites.…”

“…Graphene has found extensive applications in engineering, science and technology as a favorable reinforcing material for different polymers [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. Polypropylene (PP) is a widely accepted thermoplastic polymer among the polyolefin groups [9][10][11]. PP is widely available, relatively inexpensive, easy to handle and allows for recycling.…”

“…These polymeric materials must perform at the imposed conditions. Blend of HDPE-PP has been prepared [6] [7] and its mechanical, thermal, crystallization and electrical properties has been studied. An experimental approach using universal testing machine (UTM) was employed to study the effect of low strain rate loading on HDPE/saw dust composites [8].…”
