Electrical Conductivity of Cu-Powder Dispersed PMMA Composites Prepared by Solution-Cast

Abstract: Cu powders dispersed poly methyl methacrylic acid (acrylic resin, PMMA) was prepared by solution cast, which could easily control the dispersion ratio. The Cu addition gradually enhanced the electrical conductivity at less and more than the critical volume fraction (15.0±1.0 volCu) in PMMA. The jump of electrical conductivity was observed by the Cu addition at the critical volume fraction. Although the result was mostly explained by the percolation theory, the critical Cu volume fraction to convert the hig… Show more

“…Therefore, volume electrical conductivity measurements were taken with a universal electron meter (MMAII-17A, Kawaguchi Electric Works, Tokyo) at room temperature in the box (P-601, Kawaguchi Electric Works, Tokyo). 10,11) Figure 2 illustrates the conductivity measurement setup. The sample was supported and contacted by ring and bottom of electrodes in the cylindrical seal container at room temperature.…”

“…The sample was supported and contacted by ring and bottom of electrodes in the cylindrical seal container at room temperature. When S, R and t are the electrode contact area (m 2 ), electrical resistance of the sample (³), and sample thickness (m), the intrinsic electrical resistivity of the sheet material (µ/³ m) is expressed by the following equation: 10,11) µ ¼ SR=t ð1Þ…”

“…In addition, since both transparency and machinability with popularity of inexpensive poly-methyl methacrylic acid (acrylic resin, PMMA) are better than ABS polymer, the appropriate impact value of the appropriate conductive copper powder dispersed PMMA composites (PMMA-Cu) is expected. 11) Thus, the purpose of the present work is to obtain appropriate electric conductive PMMA-Cu composites with a moderated impact value for use with practical articles.…”
