Electrocatalytic Properties of Ni(II) Schiff Base Complex Polymer Films

Abstract: Platinum electrodes were modified with polymers of the (±)-trans-N,N′-bis(salicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediaminenickel(II) ([Ni(salcn)]) and (±)-trans-N,N′-bis(3,3′-tert-Bu-salicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediaminenickel(II) ([Ni(salcn(Bu))]) complexes to study their electrocatalytic and electroanalytical properties. Poly[Ni(salcn)] and poly[Ni(salcn(Bu))]) modified electrodes catalyze the oxidation of catechol, aspartic acid and NO2−. In the case of poly[Ni(salcn)] modified electrodes, the electrocatalysis process d… Show more

“…In MeCN, the voltammetric curves were less electrochemically irreversible ( Figures S22A and S23A , ESI) than the curves recorded in CH 2 Cl 2 ( Figure 9 a and Figure S15A , ESI), which was also shown on the basis of previous electrocatalytic studies [ 49 ].…”

“…In our previous papers, we reported on the modification of a platinum electrode with a salen-type complex [28,29] and glassy carbon electrode surfaces with manganese complexes of unsubstituted 1,10-phenanthroline immobilized in a Nafion layer [30,31]. We examined their stability and the charge transport through the layer and calculated the apparent diffusion coefficients.…”
