Electrochemical comparative study of Ti/Ta2O5/Pt‐RuO2‐IrO2 and Ti/Ta2O5/Pt anodes: Stability, service lifetime, and electrooxidation performance

Abstract: This work aimed to compare the stability, service lifetime, and electrooxidation performance of Ti/Ta 2 O 5 /Pt-RuO 2 -IrO 2 (PRI) and Ti/Ta 2 O 5 /Pt (Pt) electrodes thermally prepared. The service lifetime study performed under 410 mA/cm 2 in a 9N H 2 SO 4 showed that PRI electrode had six (06) times longer lifetime than the Pt electrode. Bulk electrolysis experiments were carried out on Pt and PRI under 20 mA/cm 2 . COD removal, current efficiency (CE), specific energy consumption (SEC), electrical energy c… Show more

“…These tubes containing 2 ml of the samples were heated in a digester at 150°C for 2 h. After cooling, the COD value is read directly on the DR600 spectrophotometer. [ 44,46,47 ] The rate of chemical oxygen demand abatement was determined using the formula in Equation (): COD=COD0CODtCOD0×100 where COD 0 and COD t are the initial and final chemical oxygen demand, respectively, in mgO 2 /L.…”

“…These processes based on the in-situ generation of powerful reactive species, in this case hydroxyl radicals, aim essentially at degrading and mineralizing organic compounds. There are several advanced oxidation process (AOPs) among which there are anodic oxidation [14][15][16][17][18], Sono-Fenton [19], Fenton-like [20], electro-Fenton [21][22][23][24], ozonation [25,26] and Fenton [27][28][29][30].…”
