Electropolymerization of 1-aminofluorenone, AFO, was prepared in CH2Cl2 and Bu4NClO4 solution as the electrolyte, via constant potential electrolysis. The redox behaviour of aminoflourenone(AFO) was investigated in methylene chloride as asolvent electrolyte medium using cyclic voltammetry (CV) of AFO polymer deposit on the electrode surface. Film formed through continuous cyclic voltammograms and the activity of film formed studied in aqueous solution. Factors affecting on the film formation by successive potential scans like potential limits, scan rate, number of cycles, monomer concentrations, the product was characterized by CV, Chronocoulometry techniques and FT-IR spectra, were examined in details to suppose the mechanism. To the best of knowledge, this is the first article on direct anodic oxidation of PAFO on saturated calomel electrode.
