Abstract:The direct electrochemical reduction of titanium oxide to titanium metal in molten CaCl2 salt has been proven by the FFC Cambridge process. [1] Subsequently, the process has been applied to a number of refractory metals. However, there are limitations to the FFC Cambridge process. For example, the current efficiency of the process is quite low, 10-40%, to achieve sufficiently low oxygen content, 0.3%, in the final titanium product. [2] This could be due to a number of reasons, such as the increasing concentrat… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
