“…This solid-state approach has been tried on cuprates in the past using traditional top gating, back gating, and even ferroelectric gating, but the shifts in T c that could be induced by field were relatively small 26 . A more powerful alternative is provided by electrolyte gating, as was demonstrated in a series of thorough studies begun two decades ago by McDevitt and collaborators [27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35] , who were able to induce shifts in critical temperatures exceeding 50 K.
