“…In this study, several components of the Wnt, Hippo and Fak-Mapk pathways were found to be up-or down-regulated during different phases of DO by microarray. The results revealed that the Wnt pathway was Previous studies demonstrated that mechanical stimulation could induce changes in molecular function, demonstrated by the up-or down-regulation of transcription factors, 25,26 increased mRNA synthesis, 27 and cause changes in gene expression. 28,29 Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that associates with integrins at focal adhesion in the Integrin-Fak pathway.…”

“…Previous studies demonstrated that mechanical stimulation could induce changes in molecular function, demonstrated by the up‐ or down‐regulation of transcription factors, increased mRNA synthesis, and cause changes in gene expression . Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) is a non‐receptor tyrosine kinase that associates with integrins at focal adhesion in the Integrin‐Fak pathway .…”

“…Of note, animal models suggest specificity of the neuroplastic effects, with neurogenesis occurring in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus (14) and attenuated dendritic arborization in the basolateral complex of the amygdala (56). Furthermore, the expression of voltagegated calcium channels in the basolateral complex and the dentate gyrus are selectively downregulated by ECS (57), which is likely to improve neuronal survival (58). As such, studies of global volumetric changes of these brain areas may not be sensitive to ECT outcome, which is appreciated by recent studies further dividing these brain areas into their respective subfields.…”

“…The current findings indicate that cells born up to a week after a 1‐day stress continue to show decreased survival. L‐type calcium channels containing the Ca V 1.2 subunit, which are upregulated in the hippocampus following SPS and chronic stress and have been implicated in PTSD (Ji et al, ; Krzyzewska et al, ; Maigaard, Hageman, Jørgensen, Jørgensen, & Wörtwein, ), may be an important part of the mechanism regulating the survival of new neurons following SPS. A recent study found that cells born at the end of chronic stress period showed increased survival relative to cells born in unstressed rats (De Miguel, Haditsch, Palmer, Azpiroz, & Sapolsky, ), suggesting that the removal of stress may have a positive effect on survival of a cohort of neurons maturing during the poststress recovery period.…”
