Electrodeposition of Mesoporous Semimetal and Magnetic Metal Films from Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Phases

Abstract: Mesoporous semimetal bismuth film and magnetic metal nickel and cobalt thin films have been electrodeposited from hexagonal or lamellar structured lyotropic liquid crystalline phases with polyoxyethylene surfactant. The liquid crystalline templates are characterized by low-angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) and polarized-light optical microscopy (POM). The metal films are characterized by low-angle and wide-angle XRD, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The magnetic measu… Show more

“…[5,6] Take for example the case of Ni nanostructures, which are usually synthesized in aqueous solution via the reduction of Ni 2+ ions by chemical or electrodeposition methods. [7][8][9][10] Although aqueous approaches towards the synthesis of Ni nanostructures have been very successful, they still have some limitations. For example, the reaction system is rather complex and parameters such as the pH, concentration of metal ions, and temperature need to be carefully controlled.…”

“…В работе [5] показано, что из растворов жидкокристаллических фаз, образованных водными растворами солей металлов с неио-ногенными полиэтоксилированными ПАВ: C 16 EO 10 и C 18 EO 10 , могут быть осаждены ме-зопористые пленки висмута и металлические никелевые и кобальтовые пленки. Пористая структура этих пленок придает им необычные транспортные и термоэлектрические свойства.…”
