Electromagnetic Wave Shielding and Fire Retardant Multifunctional Polymer Composites

Abstract: Novel PE- and PP-based electromagnetic wave shielding and absorbing materials with low combustibility, enhanced thermal and mechanical properties, containing graphite, grinded wood and fire retardants, were developed and investigated. Their flame-resistance, thermal and mechanical properties are investigated. Electromagnetic wave reflection coefficients of the materials over the frequency range 20-40 GHz were measured; despite low concentration (10%) of functional filler, reflection coefficient can be as low a… Show more

“…Hierarchical approach has been used in investigation of polymer composite materials with different fillers, such as: highly filled chemical fibers inflated with carbonyl iron, hexaferrites of various structural types with frequencies of natural ferromagnetic resonance (NFMR) from 1 to 40 GHz, powders of ferromagnetic amorphous alloys [4,[8][9][10]; engineering glass-reinforced plastics with lamellar elements of magnetic field textured hexaferrites [8]; multilayer films from alternating layers of amorphous ferromagnetic alloy (in the form of periodic structure of squares 75 × 75 µm 2 ) and dielectric SiO 2 layers [11]; composites polymer-ferroelectric [9].…”
