Electron and neutron electric dipole moment in the 3-3-1 model with heavy leptons

Abstract: We calculate the electric dipole moment for the electron and neutron in the framework of the 3-3-1 model with heavy charged leptons. We assume that the only source of CP violation arises from a complex trilinear coupling constant and the three complex vacuum expectation values. However, two of the vacua phases are absorbed and the other two are equal up to a minus sign. Hence only one physical phase survives. In order to be compatible with the experimental data this phase has to be smaller than 10 −6 .

“…The phenomenology of the model depends strongly on the numerical values of the matrices in Eq. (9), (10) and (11). To show this, in the Appendix A we present other parametrizations of the matrices and we discuss in the Conclusions how the constraint on the mass of the vector bilepton U ++ µ , coming from the decay µ → eeē, is affected when other parametrizations are used.…”

“…We stress that even if neutrinos were massless (at tree level) the lepton flavor number is not conserved in this model. Here we will not consider neither CP violation, however see [11].…”

“…However, since in this work we are concerned solely with the CP-even neutral scalars, we will present the results only for this sector. The analytical results for the rest of the scalar sector can be found in [8].…”

“…These V l L,R matrices diagonalize the mass matrix in the following manner: V l L M l V l † R = diag(m e , m µ , m τ ). Possible solutions for the V l L,R matrices and the G l matrix can be found in [29] and [32]. To find these solutions it was considered |v ρ | = 54 GeV and |v η | = 240 GeV, as in Ref.…”

“…For more details of the model see Refs. [28] and [29]. An important issue, that in general cannot be neglected in 3-3-1 models, are the contributions of the scalars and pseudo-scalars, since sometimes there are important positive and/or negative interference with the amplitudes involving other particles in the model [30].…”
