Electron Diffraction of Molecules and Clusters in Superfluid Helium Droplets

Abstract: In an effort to solve the crystallization problem in crystallography, we have been engaged in developing a method termed “serial single molecule electron diffraction imaging” (SS-EDI). The unique features of SS-EDI are superfluid helium droplet cooling and field-induced orientation. With two features combined, the process constitutes a molecular goniometer.
