Electron-Impact Excitation and Dissociation of Heavy Rare Gas Heteronuclear Ions via Transitions to Charge Transfer States

Abstract: Heteronuclear diatomic rare gas molecular cations feature excited electronic terms with charge transfer character located several eV above the ground term. The role of such terms in collisions involving heteronuclear ions is studied theoretically under conditions typical of the plasma-based sources of UV and IR radiation.
