Abstract:The method of extended crossing beams has been used to study electron-impact excitation of the dysprosium atom energy levels that belong to the 4f 10 6s7s configuration. Ninety-one excitation cross sections have been measured at incident electron energy of 30 eV. Cross-section measured are within the range of 10-18 to 10-19 cm 2 in most cases. Spontaneous emission rises as a result of both allowed and forbidden transitions from the excited levels covered in the study.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
