Electron Transfer from Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons to Menadione

Abstract: In chloroform, electron transfer from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons to menadione induces an orange-red color. The observed very small equilibrium constants and the positive heats of formation strongly suggest that the interaction is mainly, sometimes entirely, contactual. The naphtacene complex is an exception.
