Electronic Wavelength Tuning of Tunable Laser with Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter

Abstract: The process of electron tunnelling through a one-dimensional non-stationary barrier created by an atomic potential and an external electromagnetic bichromatic field consisting of coherent superposition of the fundamental laser field frequency and its second harmonic is considered and studied theoretically. Within the framework of the imaginary time method the analytical expression for the corresponding photoionization probability has been derived which is, in fact, the analogue of the well known Keldysh formul… Show more

“…AOMs have been successfully used for rapid and random access discreet tuning of CO 2 lasers on their 9.6 µm and 10.6 µm laser bands [9] and continuous tuning of Ti-sapphire lasers [10]. Reference [10] also provides earlier data on tuning of dye lasers using acousto-optic modulators.…”

“…11 Wada et al developed an electronically tuned Ti:sapphire laser (ETL). 12,13 It has an acousto-optical tunable filter (AOTF) for the wavelength selection device, instead of grating or prism. [12][13][14][15][16][17] The AOTF was driven with a radio frequency (RF) signal provided by an RF generator controlled by a PC.…”

“…When the first and second RF signals are both tuned within the tunable range of ETL, the ETL generates two laser pulses with different wavelengths in the single resonator, which is called DW-ETL. 13 In this study, a single DW-ETL is applied as the light source of CARS spectroscopy. The performance of DW-ETL CARS system is evaluated with biological samples.…”

“…In particular, tunable mid-IR light sources with highspeed wavelength tuning is expected to expand the range of applications. In our previous work, we developed a rapid and random wavelength-tuned mid-IR laser with differencefrequency generation (DFG), using a two-wavelengthoscillated electronically tuned Ti:Al 2 O 3 laser [1][2][3] with an acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) [4][5][6][7][8] as a wavelength tuning element.…”
