Electropolymerized Bipolar Poly(2,3‐diaminophenazine) Cathode for High‐Performance Aqueous Al‐Ion Batteries with An Extended Temperature Range of −20 to 45 °C

Wei Wang,

et al.

Abstract: Achieving reversible insertion/extraction in most cathodes for aqueous aluminum ion batteries (AAIBs) is a significant challenge due to the high charge density of Al3+ and strong electrostatic interactions. Organic materials facilitate the hosting of multivalent carriers and rapid ions diffusion through the rearrangement of chemical bonds. Here, a bipolar conjugated poly(2,3‐diaminophenazine) (PDAP) on carbon substrates prepared via a straightforward electropolymerization method was introduced as cathode for A… Show more

“…17,18 Electropolymerization is a facile method in generating large πelectron-conjugated polymers that are conductive, for example, poly(1,5-NAPD), 19 poly(aniline-co-azure B) (PANAB), 20 and poly(2,3-diaminophenazine) (PDAP). 21 To construct a cathode material for aqueous ZIBs, abundant redox active groups including carbonyl and imino groups are essential to improving the specific capacity. A dihydropyrazine derivative, 6,9-dihydropyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline-2,3,7,8(1H,4H)-tetrone (DHPQ-Tetrone), has a nitrogen-containing heteroacene structure, which is modified by four carbonyl groups.…”

“…Polymerization has become an effective strategy to mitigate the issue of low conductivity of small organic compounds and the issue of dissolution of the active material. , Electropolymerization is a facile method in generating large π-electron-conjugated polymers that are conductive, for example, poly(1,5-NAPD), poly(aniline- co -azure B) (PANAB), and poly(2,3-diaminophenazine) (PDAP) . To construct a cathode material for aqueous ZIBs, abundant redox active groups including carbonyl and imino groups are essential to improving the specific capacity.…”
