Electroporation of Cardiac Cell Membranes with Monophasic or Biphasic Rectangular Pulses

Abstract: During defibrillation, cardioversion, and electrocution trauma, heart cells are exposed to potential gradients that increase the transmembrane potential (Vm). At sufficiently high Vm, pathological increases in cell permeability can occur.
