“…Some 77% of the oil from an oil in water mixture containing 1% kerosene passed through the membrane. A related super hydrophobic membrane has been made from a fluorine-containing triptycene-based polyimide, which had a separation efficiency of oil from water of 99%, again with the oil phase passing through the membrane [28].…”

“…The main limitation of SPI electrospun fibers was their poor environmental stability and dissolution durability because of the absence of crosslinking. [22][23][24][25] To fulfill the emerging demands for high performance and environmentally stable PI UFMs, new designs of both PI structure and ES technologies are urgently required.…”

“…The addition of fluorinated compounds and inorganic nanoparticles such as silica often improves the hydrophobicity and oil separation efficiency of the membranes. Some of the recent works are based on electrospun membranes composed of fluorine‐containing triptycene‐based polyimides, N ‐perfluorooctyl‐substituted polyurethane (PU), polyimide–cellulose acetate‐fluorinated polybenzoxazine + silica nanoparticles, and poly( m ‐phenyleneisophthalamide) + silica nanoparticles…”
