“…Traditional CBT has beneficial effects in adults with chronic pain (Williams et al, 2020) and is also effective in patients with emotional disorders (Lorenzo-Luaces et al, 2018;López-López et al, 2019). Concretely, recent evidence shows that Mindfulness-based Interventions (MBI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Behavioral Activation Therapy for Depression (BATD) also produce positive effects in patients with chronic pain (Jorn, 2015;Veehof et al, 2016;Hughes et al, 2017;Boersma et al, 2019;Khoo et al, 2019;Gloster et al, 2020;Pardos-Gascón et al, 2021).…”

“…Multidisciplinary pain management approaches have been offered to patients with persistent pain only since the 1990s and 2000s and such approaches are cost-effective (Siddall and Cousins, 2004). The efficacy of several psychosocial interventions has been supported in meta-analyses of randomised control trials (Hoffman et al, 2007) such as cognitive behavioural therapy (Jorn, 2015), physiotherapy, relaxation techniques and gradual exposure to individualised exercises (Marcus, 2009). Self-management strategies can reduce the intensity and duration of pain (Clauw et al, 2019), increasing quality of life, patient autonomy and decreasing social isolation.…”
