“…This contrasts with the study by deFilippi et al (10 ) that showed no relation between cTnT and LV mass or function, but is similar to other studies in hemodialysis patients (9,25 ). So far, only 2 studies have been done in a PD population (11,26 ). Both reported prognostic value of cTnT but were limited by very small sample size.…”

“…Some studies (8,9 ), including a recent metaanalysis (27 ), suggested that a cTnT concentration Ͼ0.1 g/L identified a subgroup of asymptomatic ESRD patients with poor survival and high risk of cardiac death. There is increasing evidence, however, that an even lower cTnT cutoff of Ͻ0.1 g/L (clinical threshold) was predictive of an increased all-cause and cardiovascular mortality (10,11,14 ). There was some suggestion from our Kaplan-Meier analysis that a cTnT Ͼ0.01 g/L was associated with more adverse cardiovascular outcomes.…”

“…Previous analyses established this relationship but were limited by the use of earlier assays for troponin T (7,(22)(23)(24)28 ). We note a paucity of evidence from examination of hs-cTnT in the PD population.…”

“…[10][11][12] In recent studies, the presence of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), which is common in ESRD patients, has been associated with elevated cTnT in patients with ESRD. [12][13][14] However, in previous studies, investigators used generally single measurement of cardiac troponins. Therefore, the change of the cardiac troponins with time and its relationship with LVMI in patients with ESRD is not completely known.…”
