“…Evidence regarding the effect of arsenic on the immune system provides an avenue to explain possible mechanisms of action on the development of childhood asthma. Several studies have shown that arsenic has an immunomodulatory effect on the synthesis of immunoglobulin E, Th2 cytokines (interleukins IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, and eotaxin), and periostin [ 17 , 18 , 35 , 36 , 37 ].
