“…Fourthly, we concluded that although the literature shows only some strategies to increase school demand, it is important to remark that in addition to what was described in fifth category, these are implemented through a series of activities such as sensitization talks, professional fairs, short courses/workshops, programmed visits, advertising in social networks, and so on (Thomassie et al 2018). Despite the great need for computer-related career professionals, some universities that offer specialties to develop professionals with knowledge to cover the mention need, present a decrease in enrollment, which can cause a wide variety of problems. That is why in this paper we set out to investigate what the main factors that directly or indirectly affect student enrollment in computer-related careers are, to establish a literature-based starting point, and to help select the best possible strategy to improve enrollment. To reach this goal, we did a documentary research, categorizing each one of the factors with its respective analysis. In the results, we explain several challenges that educators face, due to the evolution of society needs, two of them are: teaching-learning models and technology; besides, it became evident that the relevance of this academic programs remain available since there is a high demand for these professionals in Mexico, as well as in the world; finally, we showed some intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors that have an essential relevance at the time that a student chooses the career to study. On the other hand, we reflected that the perception of everything that involves the study of a Computing-related career is a factor to be considered in the selection of an educational program of higher education. This study could be a reference for universities that are facing decreasing enrollment concerns. In conclusion, we analyzed and identified the main factors that have an impact on the demand for a career related to engineering, providing possible lines of action for increasing school enrollment.

With the development of human civilization, higher education has undergone a change from elite education to mass education. In China, this change is particularly obvious, and higher elite education has been impacted greatly. While Chinese middle school students have kept excellent performs in the International Olympic Mathematics Competition, no Chinese mathematician from main land won the Fields Medal. How to train creative talents and train mathematicians with historical mission? We think that one of the important ways is to develop elite education. This paper discusses the elite education of the United States, and compares the teaching tools, teaching books and other aspects of higher mathematics education between China and the United States. We propose in this paper four concrete solutions to elite education under mass education. They are of reforming the teaching tools, enhancing students' innovative abilities, expanding international academic exchange and adopting the tutorial system to undergraduate students. Through the four solutions, it can serve as a reference for the development of elite education in mathematics and promote the organic integration of elite education and mass education.

Elite training mode based on multi-mode and multi-layer education in China

Elite education in universities is the main channel to train the elite. It is essential to explore a modern effective elite training mode. For the elite training in China, this paper proposes a new mode based on multi-mode and multi-layer education. The proposed mode is composed of three layers and three modes: construction of the elite training system which mainly orients to the engineering industry and professional academic, realisation of the elite education mode which is based on the LECTURE-TUTORIAL-LAB mode, and establishment of the systematic teaching group which trains the elite. The proposed mode based on multi-mode and multi-layer education points out an exploration direction for the elite training frame in the universities in China.
