Automated Soil Moisture Monitoring using Wireless Sensor Networks

In order to maximize the use of water for agricultural crops, an automated soil moisture monitoring system was created. A wirelessly dispersed network of soil-moisture and temperature sensors is employed in the system to monitor conditions in the root zone of the plants. In addition to these functions, a gateway device can manage the data collected by sensors, trigger actuators, and transmit data to a web application. A microcontroller-based gateway was built with an algorithm that was based on temperature and soil moisture threshold values for the purpose of managing the amount of water that was available. The electricity for the system came from photovoltaic panels, and it had a bidirectional communication connection that was built on an interface between cellular technology and the internet. This gave customers the ability to plan watering and analyse data via a web page. When compared to the conventional irrigation methods that are utilised in the agricultural zone, the automated system's test run on a field of sage crops resulted in water savings of up to 90 percent. The test lasted for 120 days. Since its implementation 18 months ago, the automated technology has been utilised effectively in all three of its designated places. Due to the low cost and energy independence of the gadget, it has the potential to be useful in places that have limited access to water and are located in remote areas.

Perancangan pH meter berbasis Arduino dilakukan untuk membuat alat ukur pH yang kompatibel dengan alat mesin pencuci film otomatis. Pengukuran pH pada larutan fixer sangat diperlukan karena tingkat pH sangat berpengaruh terhadap hasil citra radiografi. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan rancang bangun pH meter berbasis arduino uno. Rancang bangun alat ini menggunakan sensor E-201C, arduino uno, dan tampilan PC. Pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan variasi larutan buffer. Hasil dari karakterisasi sensor menunjukkan sensor memiliki nilai sensitivitas 46,2mV/pH pada suhu 28oC. Pengukuran pada larutan asam menghasilkan tegangan sensor bernilai positif, larutan netral menghasilkan tegangan sensor mendekati nol, dan larutan basa menghasilkan tegangan sensor bernilai negatif. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian, pH meter yang dibuat mampu mengukur rentang nilai pH 1,6 sampai dengan 11 dengan ketelitian 99% dan layak digunakan sebagai alat ukur pH pada mesin pencuci film radiografi.Kata Kunci : Larutan fixer, sensor E-201C, arduino uno, pH meter Abstract Design of pH meter based on Arduino had done to create pH measurement instrument that compatible with automatic washing machine of x-ray radiograph film. The pH Measurement on buffer solution is important because acidic level extremely effect to result of radiograph image. In this research, the design of pH meter based on arduino uno has been performed. Sensor of E-201C, arduino uno an display PC used to designed of pH meter. Buffer solution has variated to get a data result. The result of sensor characterization shows that the sensitivity of the sensor is about 46.2mV/pH in the temperature of 28C. Measurement of acidic solution give result of positive voltage, netral solution voltage of limit to zero, and basic solution of negative voltage. According to the examination result, pH meter has made as can measure pH with ranges of 1,6 to 11 with 99% accuracy and proper to use as a pH measuring instrument to wash film radiography equipment.Keywords : Buffer Solution, Sensor of E-201C, Arduino uno, pH meter

Development of a Low-Cost pH Meter for Liquid Chemical Fertilizers

Liquid chemical fertilizers are widely used in modern agriculture. The pH values of these fertilizers are important in terms of their effectiveness in the field application and their effect on the soil-water pH balance. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the pH and other properties of liquid fertilizers with fast, practical and inexpensive methods. With the advancing technology, pH value has been started to measure more accurately and efficiently with the help of low-cost devices. In this study, a low-cost pH meter was developed using a low-cost pH sensor, an Arduino UNO R3 microcontroller board, and a software written in the C/C++ programming language. The developed pH meter was used to measure the pH values of liquid chemical fertilizers. Close variations were observed between the values obtained from it and the values measured by an accredited, laboratory-type pH meter. According to the pH measurements of the two pH meters, R2 ranged 88.1% to 99.3%, average error range 0.14 to 0.28, and average error percentage ranged 1.56% to 6.81% for three different types of liquid fertilizers. In light of these results, it was shown that the developed low-cost pH meter can be useful for practical pH measurement applications.
