Embedding Knowledge in 3D Data Frameworks in Cultural Heritage

Abstract: ABSTRACT:At present, where 3D modeling and visualisation in cultural heritage are concerned, an object's documentation lacks its interconnected memory provided by multidisciplinary examination and linked data. As the layers of paint, wood, and brick recount a structure's physical properties, the intangible, such as the forms of worship through song, dance, burning incense, and oral traditions, contributes to the greater story of its cultural heritage import. Furthermore, as an object or structure evolves throu… Show more

“…This data storage will also allow the researcher to consult all of the available sources and documentation (Coughenour et al 2015;Laurenza and Putzolu 2001). Since they are linked to the part of the 3D model that they contain information about, it will be possible to visualize all of the data related to specific segments the researcher is interested in at a given time.…”

“…This perspective could be extended by other perspectives, such as the broader field of computer graphics or skill transfer research, to gradually create a complete overview of the potential and challenges while working with PR3DMs. The outlined theoretical and practical considerations can be used to inspire more nuanced research, exploring the interaction between the effects on mental load through potentially more complex cognitive processing, potentially increased emotional or behavioral outcomes, and how such material could be connected to traditional or additional learning material (Coughenour et al, 2015). Research itself could benefit from the facilitated method of content production, and researchers addressing realistic digital materials might be capable of using PR3DMs as stimuli.…”

“…The proposed approach of adaptive parametric modelling aims to unlock the parallel workflow between multidisciplinary community. Following the lessons learned from very promising results in previous documentation and research works (Coughenour et al, 2015) (Figure 2), this paper focuses more on the digitisation and modelling with the use of a work-in-progress semi-automated parametric algorithm. Thus, the use of the Medieval Paphos Castle 3 complex seaside wall is being used to explain the adaptive data processing from digitisation to H-BIM.…”
