“…The innate immune system plays critical protective and defensive roles during fetal and early life stages Several investigations have highlighted the significant effects of environmental and endocrine‐disrupting chemicals on the transcription levels of chemokines and cytokines and immune system activity . Here, we further demonstrated that the mRNA levels of innate immune‐related genes, CXCL‐1, IL‐1β, and IL‐8, are markedly reduced in fetuses obtained from 5 mg/kg/d ENN B1‐injected female mice (Figure A).…”

“…Combined with downregulation of the vtg1 gene when exposued to R ‐metalaxyl, it was possible that R ‐metalaxyl could disturb the synthesis of vtg , which would further affect the transportation of nutrients followed by growth and development inhibition of zebrafish embryos. Cytochrome P450 aromatase ( cyp ) plays the leading role in the biosynthesis of steroid hormones, and cyp19 plays a crucial role in the step of transforming androgens into estrogens . Our study showed that cyp19a decreased significantly after exposure to 100 mg · L ‐1 R ‐metalaxyl, and cyp19b was downregulated after being treated with 200 mg · L ‐1 R ‐metalaxyl, which possibly means that the synthesis of sex hormones was affected.…”

“…Apoptosis is characterized by chromatin condensation, DNA fragmentation, plasma membrane blebbing (i.e., externalization of phosphatidylserine), and cell shrinkage due to reduction in cytoplasm and organelles (Kerr, ; Majno and Joris, ; Rich et al, ). Numerous studies utilized zebrafish embryo models to test a number of chemicals for apoptosis (Jiang et al, ; Zeng et al, ; Wu et al, ; Zhu et al, ). It was unknown whether the two indoxacarb enantiomers induced apoptosis during zebrafish development.…”
