Abstract: The emergence of 'Mexican Fire' disease in Brazilian tomato fields, attributed to potato virus Y (PVY), has raised concerns. Characterized by severe necrosis on median leaves, the definitive etiological agent of this disease remained unverified despite PVY detection in symptomatic plants.
