“…Previous work in Bath 2 and Oxford 3 concluded that DGH bed use was lower, but total in-patient bed use was higher, where the population had access to community hospital beds. A Bristol study 4 examined rates by geographical area, and found that supply factors and socio-economic circumstances were correlated with admission rates. One known factor is that lower admission rates are seen for practices at a greater distance from their DGH.…”
