Emerging Importance of Helicases in Plant Stress Tolerance: Characterization of Oryza sativa Repair Helicase XPB2 Promoter and Its Functional Validation in Tobacco under Multiple Stresses

Abstract: Genetic material always remains at the risk of spontaneous or induced damage which challenges the normal functioning of DNA molecule, thus, DNA repair is vital to protect the organisms against genetic damage. Helicases, the unique molecular motors, are emerged as prospective molecules to engineer stress tolerance in plants and are involved in nucleic acid metabolism including DNA repair. The repair helicase, XPB is an evolutionary conserved protein present in different organisms, including plants. Availability… Show more

“…The likelihood of the involvement of stress-related lncRNAs in drought memory was discovered in our study(Raikwar et al, 2015). A novel lncRNA, TCONS_00028567, which may be the precursor of osa-MIR1428e, might regulate ABA signaling through its critical gene SAPK10 (Supplementary Figure S3).…”

“…CACGTG is a cis-element known for its importance in plant defense against pathogens. The G-box (CACGTG) cis-element functions in the activation of genes involved in the production of lignin precursors, phytoalexins, and salicylic acid, which are early responses to pathogen attack ( Raikwar et al, 2015 ). The CCGAAA motif plays a significant role in regulating plant responses to cold stress and sugar signaling, ultimately influencing plant defense ( Qian et al, 2018 ).…”
