This review, the eighth in a series on emission spectrometry, covers the period 1962 through December 1963 with some material that appeared in 1961. The review for the preceding period had been divided into three separate sections: emission spectrometry (441), emission flame photometry (305), and absorption flame photometry (159). These topics are treated together in this review and the discussions on flame photometry and atomic absorption spectroscopy are located toward the end of the review. Following the plan of earlier reviews, attention has been given to contribution of basic importance or applications that are new, unique, or extensive. The 565 references cited represent about one quarter of the publications treating of analytical emission spectrometry which appeared
