“…The DERS has demonstrated good internal consistency and test–retest reliability (Gratz & Roemer, 2004). Among Spanish-speaking Latinx the DERS has demonstrated good internal consistency as well as a well-fitting single factor structure (Paulus, Gallagher, et al, 2017). The internal consistency in the current sample was good for the DERS-Total (α = 0.88).…”

“…Among Latinx individuals, emotion dysregulation is strongly implicated in alcohol use. Past research has shown that emotion dysregulation partially explains the association between negative affect and alcohol use (Paulus, Bakhshaie, Lemaire, et al, 2016) between the experience of pain and alcohol use (Paulus, Bakhshaie, et al, 2017), and between anxiety symptoms and alcohol use (Paulus, Gallagher, et al, 2017) among Latinx. Furthermore, among Latinx, the association between pain and negative emotional symptoms is moderated by emotion dysregulation such that those with greater dysregulation experienced a stronger link between pain and negative emotions (i.e., anxiety, depression; Paulus, Bakhshaie, Garza, et al, 2016).…”

“…Participants were recruited from a community-based FQHC in the Southwestern United States, which included 238 trauma-exposed Latinx adults (88.7% female; M age = 38.04, SD = 11.06 ). Advertisements were posted at the clinic for recruitment, as in past work on this population (e.g., Paulus et al, 2017; Zvolensky et al, 2016). All individuals were Spanish-speaking and the majority (92.4%) considered Spanish as their first language.…”
