Emotional labour and affective skills in public service interpreting: expanding the competence models

Abstract: Extant approaches to interpreter competence appear directed at performance measurement, mainly in relation to cognitive skills. These approaches are reinforced by notions of professionalism underpinned by prescriptive ethical standards.
