Empirical Evidence of Design-Related Bias in Studies of Diagnostic Tests

Abstract: These data provide empirical evidence that diagnostic studies with methodological shortcomings may overestimate the accuracy of a diagnostic test, particularly those including nonrepresentative patients or applying different reference standards.
